Domestic Animal Control

Please consider the reason for contacting Animal Control and take action accordingly:

  • Emergencies:  If you have an emergency situation call 911.
  • Wildlife:  The ACO is not responsible for wildlife issues, dead or alive.  All wildlife issues should be reported  to a State Game Warden or State Biologist for the region:
    • State Game Warden (live wild animal encounters, rabies concerns, dead deer, etc.) - 1-800-452-4664.
    • State Wildlife Biologist (dead birds, bats, etc.) - Keel Kemper - 287-5369
  • For minor issues:  To report lost animals (or animals observed at large but not in your possession), or general questions please contact the Town Office at 685-4939.
  • For major issues: To report animal abuse, animal bites, stray animals in your possession, or similar please call Eric Johnson at 931-7684.

By State Law, all dogs by the age of six months old must be licensed in the municipality in which you live. To license your dog you will need to show proof that the dog has a current rabies shot. All dogs should be re-licensed by Dec. 31st of each year.  If you have any questions about the law please contact the Town Office at (207) 685-4939.
