General Assistance

General Assistance applications and discussions are strictly confidential.  The Town has several different programs and resources available and not all require verification of income and expenses.  The General Assistance Administrator will see non-emergency applicants by walk-in or by appointment.  You may call the Town Office at (207) 685-4939 to set an appointment.  If an emergency need arises please call Eric Dyer at (207) 931-7680.  We will do our best to provide assistance in all cases, whenever a need arises.

Help may be available for the following needs:

  • Food
  • Heating Fuel
  • Housing
  • Property taxes
  • Utilities / Telephone
  • Personal  / Household supplies
  • Finding employment
  • Coaching in personal financial management
  • Identifying and accessing a variety of other resources
