2021 Spirit of America Award Recipients for the Town of Readfield

The 2021 Spirit of America Award Recipents are as follows:

Deborah Peale

For her extensive and lasting contributions to the Readfield Community Library serving as a volunteer, Board of Trustee’s member, and Board Chairperson.  Deb shares her many talents and kind heart through various Library improvement projects, delivery of materials to homebound patrons and organizer of the annual Burns Night event.  For all her giving and community-oriented spirit we extend our special appreciation and thanks.

Bruce Burgoine

For his tireless service to Readfield residents and their children through services on local and regional school committees and town committees including the Select Board.  Bruce’s leadership, vision, calm demeanor, reasoned approach and ability to work with all folks, has given our town the opportunity to move forward with major infrastructure projects and guidance through the Covid-19 pandemic.  His thirty-plus years of service are truly appreciated.

Christine Grover Sammons

In recognition for her commitment to serving Readfield on the Select Board for six years and going beyond the job duties.  Chris’ drive to bring the community together was evidenced in many ways, notably with forming our Annual Trunk-or-Treat, helping to revive an annual Heritage Days event and forming a Veteran’s Day event.  Her quick wit, focused approach, ability to see all sides of a situation, and desire to do what’s best for all, provided our town with strong leadership for which we are truly grateful.
