Harbors and Moorings Public Hearing

Friday, August 26th at 5:30pm.
Moorings

Increased summertime activity on lakes across the state of Maine and recent mooring regulation closer to home in Winthrop have spurred discussion on the subject of freshwater harbor and mooring regulation at the local level.  These areas are already regulated by the State, however, there is concern among some Readfield residents and taxpayers that State regulation is not sufficient.  Others believe the State regulations are sufficient and promote open access to our lakes.

Following public comment and requests the Select Board set a process for considering these issues.  To date it has included discussion at Board meetings and at the summer residents meeting earlier this month.  The next step in the process is to hold an open public hearing for residents and taxpayers to express their opinions on the broad subjects of harbor and mooring regulation, public access, and the future use and care of our lakes.

Please join us this Friday evening at the Town Office at 5:30pm.  We will have Zoom participation available HERE.  This mode can be limiting and the technology is imperfect so participants are encouraged to attend in person.

Thank you,
