Readfield Heritage Days 2019 offers three days of activities, fun, and entertainment in Readfield!

Originally a fundraiser to assist the town library, Heritage Days has grown and transformed over the years to become a town-wide celebration of a great place to live.

On Friday night, August 9th, Heritage Days get started 5-7pm at the Readfield Historical Society  Wine and Cheese Social and when their new military room will be dedicated in honor of Bill and Flo Drake. Finish the night off at Asa Gile Hall for a comedy show with Capital City Improv, presented by the Friends of the Readfield Community Library.  The show begins at 7:30 and tickets are $10.

Saturday, August 10th is packed with fun.  In addition to an all-day kids fishing derby, other activities include a pancake breakfast at the Masonic Hall from 8-10am, an abbreviated book sale at the library at 9am, and a consignment/yard sale and maker’s market at the Union Meeting House with live music from 9-Noon featuring Tom Giordano and Friends, Simon Quist, and Ed Desjardins. A walking tour “Readfield Corner before 1827” will be co-led by Dale Potter-Clark and Bill Adams. The tour will begin at 10:00am inside the Readfield Union Meeting House and will culminate at the Old Fairgrounds at noon.

The Gallery, a new art gallery next to the Post Office, will be open on Saturday from 10:30-2:30 exhibiting the art work of Readfield artists Christine and Tom Higgins, Chris Olson, Jeanne Scudder, and Camee Davidson. There will be a “Meet the Artists” reception with drinks and appetizers from 2:30-4:30 and everyone is invited.

At noon the 2019 Readfield Kickball Championship gets underway at the Fairgrounds Ball Field.

At noon, food trucks will take over the upper beach parking lot and offer all sorts of food items for lunch.  There will be family lawn games (cornhole, ladder toss, can-jam) at the beach all day! At 1pm, our friends at the Weathervane are offering an outdoor beverage garden. Finally, at 2pm, high-energy local band, The Shizzle, finishes the afternoon with music that will take you back to the 80’s and 90’s and have you dancing on the beach!

At 4:30pm, the annual Bean Hole Supper happens at the fire station.  Chief Mank and his merry band of volunteers and supporters offer this community bean supper each year, and it is always a great time.   Children are encouraged to bring their fish for weigh-ins from 4pm to 5pm at the station to win a prize!

At 7pm, Maine legend Dave Mallet performs at the Readfield Union Meeting House.  He brings his decades of experience to this beautiful space for a concert that is for all ages.

At 9:15, after the concert, we wrap up with Heritage Days fireworks at the beach.

On Sunday night, August 11th, the Readfield Recreation Committee presents Family Movie Night at the Beach!  End the weekend with the whole family and do the Truffle Shuffle as “The Goonies” will play on the big screen by the beach at dusk.

Join us for a full weekend of fun, family, and friends - all at Readfield Heritage Days, August 9, 10 and 11!
