SEPTEMBER 20, 2022, IS NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY, and Maine municipal clerks encourage all voters to consider updating their voter registration status during the month of September. If a voter has moved, changed their name, attained citizenship or recently turned 18, the individual is encouraged to promptly go to their municipal office to update their voter registration. If the voter has not changed their name or address since the last time they voted, they do not need to re-register. Even though National Voter Registration Day is recognized on Tuesday, September 20th, voters are able to register to vote at any time of the year. It is recommended that this task be undertaken well in advance of election day to avoid waiting lines at polling places. Registering to vote is easy and quick. Voters can go into their town/city office or mail in a voter registration card. Residents should bring proof of identification and proof of residency. Maine municipal clerks are promoting and encouraging voter registration in the month of September, and residents with questions are welcome to contact their town/city office for more information. Readfield residents may contact the Town Clerk 207-685-1816.
