Timber Harvest Underway at the Town Forest!

Harvest

A timber harvest operation is currently underway at the Redfield Town Forest impacting several x-country ski/snowshoeing trails on the property.  Users should plan accordingly and use caution if visiting the Town Forest.

Didn't know we had a Town Forest?  We do - and it's fantastic!  It's a publicly owned parcel accessible year round (with the right equipment) located in the southeast corner of town, bordering the Town of Wayne.  It was formerly the Town "Poor Farm" several decades ago but now it serves multiple uses including outdoor recreation, bird watching, hunting, and other forms of conservation.  Timber harvesting occurs periodically to keep the woods healthy and diverse, and to support conservation efforts there and elsewhere in town.  If you'd like to learn more about the Town Farm Forest and the adjacent Kennebec Land Trust Conservation Area take a look at the Brochure.
